BENGAL ENGINEERING COLLEGE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF WASHINGTON DC METROPOLITAN AREA was established in Maryland, USA in 2003. BECAA WMA's aim is to promote a closer interaction among the ex students , teachers of Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur living in this area and to establish and maintain a fruitful relation with our alma mater. At present the association is organizing annual daylong picnic and social, cultural functions through its members like Bijoya Sammilani. In year 2005 BECAA WMA established an annual Young Faculty Research Award for excellence in research for the faculty members of Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur, India.

With deep regret we announce the passing away of Sri Subrata Banerjee on October 30, 2011 while he was visiting Calcutta. Sri Banerjee was an active member of WMA-BECAA. He got his Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering in 1965 from B.E. College, Shibpur. He is survived by his wife, daughter and son-in-law. We shall greatly miss him. We pray for his departed soul.
