Dear alumni,
You are aware that some of us, in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area, have
been working towards constituting a formal Association for the alumni of
B.E.College in this area for quite some time now. You will be happy to know
that we are already registered in the state of Maryland under the name "Bengal
Engineering College (Deemed University) Alumni Association, Washington
Metropolitan Area". The process of applying for tax exemption with the IRS is
also under way.
The need for this Association was felt by us not only to ensure that we remain
in regular touch with each other, but also to provide ourselves with a forum
where we can channel our energy towards the betterment of our alma mater that
we all so dearly love. Presently, we are working to develop a website, publish
a regular newsletter, institute a young-faculty award for the members of the
faculty of B.E. College and organize an alumni meet during Banga Sammelan in
July 2004.
To achieve our goals and to meet the recurring expenses of running the
association, an annual membership of $30.00 per member has been set. During the
get-together in November 2003, many of us took the opportunity to become formal
members and paid the annual membership dues for the calendar year 2004.
Considering the high level of commitment that each of us has towards our alma
mater, we are sure that every one in the D.C. Metro area will become active
member of this association. At this time we would like to request you to send
your annual membership dues of $30.00 for the year 2005 to Mr.Prabal
Bandopadhya -Treasurer .

History:
BENGAL ENGINEERING COLLEGE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF
WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA was established in Maryland, USA in 2003.
BECAA_WMA's aim is to promote a closer interaction among the ex students
/teachers of B.E.College living in this area and to establish and maintain a
fruitful relation with our alma mater. At present the association is organizing
annual daylong picnic and social, cultural functions through its members like
Bijoya Sammilani. We will publish annual newsletters soon. In future we would
like to establish an annual Young Faculty Research Award for excellence in
research for the faculty members of B.E. College.
